sooner rather than later<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Instead of a license\u2019s usual three-year duration, the GRA has cut Resorts World Sentosa\u2019s down to two, a signal that the body wants the integrated casino resort to address areas that \u201crequire rectification and substantial improvement\u201d sooner rather than later.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>The Business Times<\/em> cited the GRA on Monday as stating its move comes after an evaluation panel appointed by Singapore\u2019s Minister for Trade and Industry Gan Kim Yong branded the Genting IR\u2019s<a href=\"https:\/\/www.businesstimes.com.sg\/companies-markets\/consumer-healthcare\/resorts-world-sentosa-gets-shortened-2-year-licence-renewal-unsatisfactory-tourism-performance\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> tourism performance from 2021 through 2023 as \u201cunsatisfactory.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n<p>According to the <em>South China Morning Post<\/em>, the Singapore subsidiary of the Malaysia-headquartered Genting will start its revised two-year license term \u201cfrom February 6 with the next evaluation to take place in 2026.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The license for Genting\u2019s sole IR competition in Singapore, Las Vegas Sands Corporation\u2019s Marina Bay Sands, is also up for renewal in April.<\/p>\n<p>In its defense, Genting stated the government-appointed review took place between January 2021 and December 2023 and coincided with the COVID-19 pandemic, a time when the company faced \u201csignificant challenges.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>CGS International analyst Tay Wee Kuang concurred, saying Singapore\u2019s \u201ctourism sector then was heavily affected in both footfall and spending.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The post <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.vegasslotsonline.com\/news\/2024\/11\/20\/singapore-censures-unsatisfactory-resorts-world-by-cutting-license-validity-to-two-years\/\">Singapore Censures \u201cUnsatisfactory\u201d Resorts World by Cutting License Validity to Two Years<\/a> appeared first on <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.vegasslotsonline.com\/news\">Vegas Slots Online News<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text-justify mb-2\" >Singapore\u2019s Gambling Regulatory Authority (GRA) has acted on its displeasure with Genting Group\u2019s Resorts World operation in the city-state by knocking a year off of its current gaming license. improvement&#8221;
