The Nevada Gaming Control Board (NGCB) regularly deals with complaints from irate gamblers who claim a casino owes them money.

It heard two particularly significant cases during its meeting on Wednesday, with sums at stake totaling more than $928,000. The NGCB rejected both complaints; neither of the claimants appeared at the hearings in person.

Avraham Orloff alleged Resorts World Las Vegas owed him $250,000 from a casino poker playing session. Board member George Assad concluded that Orloff misinterpreted the rules. Orloff thought the payout was $500,000 based on his $1,000 stake, but Assad explained that the payout is actually an aggregate amount at the table.

The other case involved a man named Glen Avilla who claimed he won $678,587 when playing a slot machine at the Grand Sierra Resort & Casino in Reno but didn’t receive a payout because the machine malfunctioned. After investigating the matter, the board concluded the machine did not tilt and was fully operational at the time.
